The Rig, Zaph's latest work, is currently doing the rounds with Publishers and Agents. Here's a brief synopsis: Pauly Ryan used to be a big deal. He had a hit movie in the nineties, but substance abuse led to a tragic accident that still haunts him. He hasn’t had a role in years, he’s washed up, unfit, and miserable, but his luck is about to change, or so he thinks. Pauly receives an invite to the opening of billionaire entrepreneur Harry Withers’s latest and greatest venture, the grand opening of an ultra-luxury resort on a converted oil rig off the coast of Bermuda. Apparently, Harry is a fan and is looking to get into big-budget movies. Pauly spends the next few weeks in a desperate, calamitous attempt to get in shape and prepare himself for one last shot at the big time, rubbing shoulders with A-listers, most of whom - he realizes, to his dismay - he’s insulted or alienated himself from back in the day. He is dreading it, but dusts himself off, gets off the drugs, and the booze – mainly – and dons his best white jacket, ripped jeans, and Dunlop Volleys for one last tilt at the big time. The Resort, however, is not what it seems, and a storm is brewing – a once-in-a-thousand-year storm, to be precise. Will Pauly get his big break, or has it all been one big mistake, a pathway to disaster, for everyone?
